Optimizing machine tool time
The efficiency of a production system also depends on the efficiency with which machining conditions are re-established in the event of a fault.
Teleservice, the service provided by REM for machine tools, is especially intended to minimize machine tool down-time owing to malfunctioning. The service applies to the vertical lathes and other heavy machine tools like horizontal boring mills and many others.
Teleservice is a link between the REM field service and the customers numerical control installed on the machine. The link may be supported by different media, for example modem, router, normal telephone lines, ISDN lines, etc.
By means of this link, which makes the entire front-end remote, REM field service technicians are able to perform diagnostics on turning and milling processes, check any corrective action undertaken, chat and transfer data to and from the linked machines. This results in faster diagnosis of a problem and better planning of any intervention required on the machine tool. It also allows preventive maintenance operations to be carried out, such as updating parts of the machine tool control logic.
In this way, our heavy machine tools will quickly resume their operation with minimum operating costs.
